About Me

Welcome to my world! I started editing when I was 22, and instantly fell in love with it. Everyone has dreams for their lives, yet it can sometimes feel impossible to make them real. One might know what to do and even how to do it, but taking action requires courage — the ability to withstand fear, humiliation, and discomfort. When I am editing, I am the happiest. I am interested in challenging the pervading ideologies and pointing to ways that we can be better citizens of a diverse and global society. My work takes strong humanistic stances from sociopolitical, psychological and literature perspectives. I wanted to tell stories which would motivate people to perceive a particular situation in different ways. Exploring this new passion, I finally understood that the visual medium of storytelling was the best way for people to connect with a story.

Hire Me

Hey, I'm Apoorva Sankar, and I'm an Indian film editor based in Los Angeles. I graduated from Dodge College of Media Arts, California, with an MFA in Film Production (Editing Emphasis) and a Bachelors in Literary honors from Mumbai University, India. It's all about the editing. I believe editing a video is like making a sculpture, you start with a big lump of clay which is a large amount of footage, and you edit it into something amazing and eloquent for people to see. A lot of the videos can change in the editing room, but at the end of the day it's all about your gut feeling. Filmmaking is a collaborative process and requires working with brilliant minds together to achieve spectacular outcomes. I have edited narrative shorts and have stumbled upon a new interest in documentary filmmaking. My recent Documentary Short, “Birds without Wings” was well acclaimed and also became the Finalist of the Student Academy. My editing style is character oriented and works around the emotional beats of the protagonist. I look for stories which would motivate people to perceive a particular situation in different ways.I have spent hours working on my craft, improving everyday ensuring that I bring my A game and editing magic to every project I work on.
